The Pearl Box and the Seahorse - Ann Wilson

It was a strange dream that fed the novella, "The Pearl Box and the Seahorse."

I had a dream early in the morning of August 15, 2007, which I developed and wrote in about 15 days. Didn't give much thought for illustration though. I had a kind of a compulsive feeling to write it out before I could forget.

The horse that came in my dream was actually a mule...lol and it was sandy brown. It was fast like lightening and I called it "seahorse: all the time. Every time I mounted it and commanded, it went as fast as lightening or like an instant messenger...lol...and I cant help it calling a horse. May be it was a horse, a light-brown horse that made me think it was a mule. The dream wasn't much clear.

I can't forget a scene where I ran away from a ball at my best friend's house on heeding to  her warning that her father seeks me for some box that I have. However, I've never met any of the characters in the dream before. I mounted on the horse and cried, "Seahorse! go home!" and the next moment I was home, a castle rather. I was only trying to protect a box given to me by a friend on his deathbed, and guessed it had diamonds or something similar from the rustling sound it made all the time.

Then I lost the horse sometime later as I didn't heed to its warning and went a wrong way dismounting it. Yes, it spoke sometimes.

Then I found the mule being toyed harshly by a lion for nothing and I chided and advised the lion to stop and it listened to me and was remorseful.

Then there were a group of men of my best friend's father, who arrived suddenly and traded the box for the lives of the creatures of the island and its people and i stretched out my hand to give it to them...i thought it had diamonds but as i did, my bf (in the dream) tried to stop saying that giving the box would actually destroy the island. During the process, it accidentally broke open and gave out pearls and light and when i opened my eyes, i had pearl ornaments on me and over the ppl before me. The villains became tamed and there was peace. My dream bf and myself had crowns and staffs...lol

I have never met any of the characters who were in the dream as I said before. I have not seen them in movies either.

Anyways, I am happy that writing it down helped me remember the epic dream, though there were a hundred differences. I believe that dreams are like irregular rocks and have to be sculpted to give a good shape, should we decide to make them an inspiration to write a literary form.

Happy Reading!
